Taylor Nelson is a producer, engineer, mixer, educator, and songwriter operating out of Denver, CO. His range of work extends from the alt-rock stylings of indie artist Bobby Guard to the electronic textures of his solo project Colorkey. He has a passion for synthesis and mixing and this is shown through the variety of productions he worked on. As an educator, Taylor works as music teacher in CO, teaching students of all ages. He teaches voice, guitar, piano, digital audio, songwriting, and mixing. He has worked as a rap & hip-hop engineer at CCM Studios in Denver, CO.

As an artist Taylor works under the name Colorkey. Started in 2020, Colorkey is an exploration of synthesis and sound.

His first album Kaleidoscope arrived in summer of 2020 and creates a bond between the sounds we hear in our everyday lives, a series of random sonorities and rhythms, to a more scientific and rigid synthesizer.

“Hammond OP-9” (2022) is a recreation of a Hammond B-3 organ using nine of Ableton’s Operator synth, each tuned to a different harmonic. “Rheumy” (2022) was made entirely in Ableton Live using all of the different Live synths.

Risk/Reward (2022) is an EP by Colorkey that furthers the sonic exploration of synthesis and the voice. The voice is calling out for you to listen and enjoy.
